The Story

Caladium 'Pilage'

A cultivar of Caladium Bicolor, this variety's foliage has green edging and veining, and white bases which can blush pink. Native to Central & South America.

  • Although large, Caladium leaves are papery thin and delicate so direct light will cause searing brown spots, scorching and/or bleaching.
  • Caladium grow from bulbs or tubers, meaning they will go dormant in winter and old foliage must be cut back at this time to make way for new, spring growth.
  • There are 1000+ cultivars of Caladium, but each one creates a strong, architectural effect and stands out for its bright, multi-coloured patterning.

How to care for caladium

Water: Water once soil is dry to the touch.

Light: Allow bright indirect light, keep away from direct sun or leaves will scorch.

Humidity: Humidity is crucial for caladiums, keep humidity high by either using a pebble tray or misting frequently.

Temperature: Keep in at least 18 degrees C.
