The Dischidia platyphylla is a part of the same family as Hoya and native to tropical areas of China and India.In the wild ants live inside the balloon-like organs produced by the plant. They bring in nutrients which fend off predatory insects. Dischidia can be a lovely plant to grow in the home, they add a lovely brightness to any room and work great as hanging plants.
How to care for your dischidia
Water: Water sparingly, the succulent like leaves hold a lot of moisture and this plant is happy with just lightly damp substrate.
Light: Keep in indirect light, these plants grow wild in low light situations below a thick rain forest canopy.
Humidity: This plant appreciates humidity above 60% but can tolerate lower.
Temperature: They like warmth, about 20 degrees C.
